18th FÍS Film Awards

21st February 2024

Congratulations to the pupils of St. Fiacc’s N.S. Graiguecullen, who won the Film of Year for 2023, with their film “Podorozh“. This short movie beautifully exposes the journey of 6th class pupil Arsenii from Ukraine to Ireland. The movie was produced by 6th class teacher Mr Kevin Keogh and his film club. The accompanying music was composed by 6th class teacher Mr Jack O’ Flaherty.

The Awards, hosted by RTE’s Sinead Kennedy, took place at The Helix on Wednesday 21st February. FIS is a collaboration between the Institute of Art, Design and Technology and Oide Technology in Education. It was devised as a grassroots initiative to nurture Ireland’s future moviemaking talent by encouraging them to devise, develop, produce, and submit their short films for consideration in a range of categories. The event was co-produced by students of IADT’s National Film School and streamed live on the official FÍS website.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Don’t forget! FÍS has also announced the return of their highly successful Storyboard Storytelling Competition. So yet again, primary pupils, it’s time to get creative! The closing date is 5pm on Friday 19th April 2024.
