Safer Internet Day (SID), taking place on February 10th, is a great opportunity to promote the safe, responsible, and positive use of digital technology and the internet.Each year thousands of students take part. There are lots of ways your class or school can get involved in the #SID2026 celebrations.
This Year’s Theme – AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control (Link: https://www.webwise.ie/aiaware/ )
This year’s theme explores how AI technologies are shaping children’s online experiences. It highlights both the benefits and potential risks of AI, while empowering children and young people to engage with AI safely, responsibly, and with confidence.
How to Get Involved
• Get Free #SID2026 Wristbands
Celebrate Safer Internet Day with a free SID Pack for your school, including wristbands for participants. Simply register your SID activity on the Safer Internet Day Events Map. (Link: https://www.webwise.ie/submit-sid-event/ )
• Use the New Safer Internet Day Lessons
New Safer Internet Day lessons (Link: https://www.webwise.ie/aiaware/ ) are available for primary and post-primary schools, supporting exploration of the #SID2026 theme AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control.
These lessons focus on emerging technologies, particularly AI, helping students understand:
- What Generative AI is
- Its benefits and potential risks
- How to use AI safely and responsibly
Schools can also explore other online safety topics through scripted presentations (Link: https://www.webwise.ie/saferinternetday/sid-presentations/ ) specifically designed to support students taking part in Safer Internet Day.

Webwise will also publish A Parent’s Guide to Generative AI in February, supporting families to navigate AI safely and confidently.
