Teachers sharing practice and our vision for ePortfolios

Teachers sharing practice and our vision for ePortfolios

Video Overview

A school principal explains how ICT integration works in his school. The school has a laptop trolley to share among classes, and an IWB in each classroom. The school uses Google Apps to share between teachers. ePortfolios also facilitate teacher and peer assessment.

Description

A large primary school looks at their use of ICT for teaching and learning. Each class has an interactive white board, with the hopes of extending ICT by getting laptop trolleys for student use. The schools aim to develop their e-learning plan, with the teachers who are eager to implement ICT in teaching and learning to lead the school in this direction. Google Apps for Education allow teachers to share documents, calendars and shared drives with one another to collaborate on the development of material. The school aims to implement e-portfolios to record student work over the school year. This will allow students, teachers and parents to look at where a student was in their learning and see how far they have progressed. Students can use e-portfolios to look at the work of classmates for the purpose of peer assessment as appropriate. This school wants to encourage students to see the connection between home use of ICT and school use of ICT, with learning at the centre. Teachers benefit from the ICT summer courses provided by PDST, which allows for teaching and learning to be enhanced for the students.
