Video Overview

A core group of dedicated staff members was created to assist in this implementation.

Description

The school principal discusses the implementation of technology into their school. The school are continuously trying to improve their use of ICT for teaching and learning. A high level of support is offered to the staff in this area. The principal understood that a whole school approach to the implementation of IT was needed. The principal and the ICT coordination met together to involve other staff members in this process. The school looked at the resources available, both hardware and software before implementing any changes. At staff meetings, the principal updates the staff on where the school is at in the process, as well as opportunities for sharing and discussion of ideas. The deputy principal networks with other schools and in the community to source ideas and approaches from external bodies. The facilitation of inservice and upskilling sessions has helped the teachers develop the necessary skills to effectively implement ICT in their classrooms. The school is eager to implement new initiatives and consider alternative approaches and strategies to best support teaching and learning. Teachers attending CPD, upskilling through local education centres and the sharing of skills among staff and trainee teachers have all contributed to the success in the change in teaching and learning. The support from the school’s PDST advisor has allowed for all staff to feel comfortable in the technological changes.
